Casting dreamscapes from fragmented nightmares to visions of true love, the music of Per Somnia seeks to immerse the listener in its lush moods and emotions.
Per Somnia (In a Dream) is the musical collaboration of vocalist Julie and songwriter/keyboardist Ross. It melds elements from different types of "dark" music, but creating something entirely different and seldom dark in itself. The influences of gothic, industrial, trip-hop, new wave, and eastern world beat music may be found in generous quantities within these songs, meshing together to take the listener on a journey through these vignettes of the subconscious.
The project began in early 1999, and, in August of that year, Per Somnia made their first live performance opening for the band Faith and Disease. The first CD release from Per Somnia, Tea and Thalidomide, was released around that time. The second CD, Falling Strange, was completed in late 2000. The new full length CD suicide skies compiles the best material from the first two EPs, along with new material and music videos. suicide skies is available now from Inconnu Media.

Ross has been writing music since 1996 under the name Sunless. The majority of material recorded under the Sunless name possesses a bleak, despairing outlook, in contrast to Per Somnia's material. In 1998, Ross also contributed keyboards to the band Audra's first CD, In a Dark Room. His latest project is the synthpop/EBM project The Endparty. He greatly enjoys Per Somnia as an opportunity to work with a excellent vocalist, and explore a full range of emotions as a songwriter.

Julie comes to Per Somnia from years of vocal performance. She began singing in choirs in 5th grade. In high school, she was part of her Women's choir, A Capella choir, and a jazz and madrigal ensemble. She has performed at festivals in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Francisco and San Antonio, and most recently performed in the ASU Women's choir. Her musical theater work includes The Music Man, The Sound of Music, and Little Shop of Horrors.
